I am the one in both her dreams and nightmares. I am the one stalking her every thought, the one who destroyed her long ago. I was the one who would set her free.

She lay like an angel in her bed, an angel that was not aware of her dark wings awakening. Everything about her was fragile, I could break her soul apart without touch or words. I broke her an eternity ago, I wished to make her alive again. I had no right to leave her like this. She deserved to die as well. I pressed my lips to her neck, and bit the delicate skin.

"Awaken, my love."

Her eyes instantly shot open, not the clear blue colour I remember, but a deep crimson, with a faint trace of blood rolling out of them. Her gaze told me she recognized her dead lover, the one that drove her into insanity. I killed her, she was free from her coma that imprisoned her in her daydreams.

"I couldn't leave you," I said, kissing her with my bloody lips, "Not when I promised you forever and couldn't give it to you. But now you have the choice of immortality. The hell I have lived in for years without you. Is this what you want?"

She looked at us in the mirror, and picked up a bloody rose at her bedside. She handed the flower to me, its petals as fragile as her.

"Even if you kill me..."

This is my entry for =freaky665 's twisted fairytales contest: [link] I decided to sort of base it off of Sleeping Beauty, but throw in a twist of my own. My story is of a woman who falls into a coma from extreme insanity since her lover died... but he actually turned into a vampire. After years of trying to find her, he awakens her from her sleep and changes her into a vampire with a bloody kiss. Before anyone asks, no, this was not inspired by Twilight in anyway. I don't like those books.

This actually took me a really long time to do. I spent forever on it, and then wrote the whole short story thing too. But I'm pretty happy with it. I'm not likely to win, I'm sure there are amazing pieces being entered. Please, if you can help me on how I can improve, critique a bit. I don't have a sub, but you can write what you think in your comments.
